What is Baloot?
Baloot (ุจููุช) is Saudi Arabia's most popular card game, played by millions across the Gulf region. Originating from the French card game Belote, Baloot has been adapted with unique rules and traditions that make it distinctly Saudi. Played with a 32-card deck (7 through Ace) by 4 players in two teams, Baloot combines bidding, trick-taking, and scoring into a deeply strategic game. The two main contracts โ Hokum (trump suit) and Sun (no trump) โ offer different tactical challenges. Whether played in family gatherings, coffee shops, or online, Baloot is more than a game โ it's a cultural institution.

- Bidding: Players bid to choose the contract โ Hokum (pick a trump suit) or Sun (no trumps). The highest bidder's team must win the majority of points.
- Play: Players take turns playing cards. The highest card of the led suit (or trump) wins each trick. Collect tricks with your partner.
- Scoring: Count points from captured cards and bonus projects (mashrooa). First team to 152 points wins the round.
