Estimation (تقدير), known internationally as Oh Hell or Bid Whist, is a trick-taking card game where accuracy matters more than greed. Unlike most games where you want to win as many tricks as possible, Estimation challenges you to predict exactly how many tricks you'll win — no more, no less. This precision-bidding mechanic makes it one of the most intellectually satisfying card games in the Arab world. Popular throughout the Gulf and Levant, Estimation is a game of careful counting, strategic play, and reading your opponents.

How to Play Estimation

Estimation is a precision-bidding trick game. Here's how to play:

1. Setup: 4 players each receive cards (the number varies each round, typically decreasing from 13 down to 1 and back up).
2. Bidding: After seeing your cards, bid exactly how many tricks you think you'll win. The catch: the total bids cannot equal the number of tricks available.
3. Play: Play tricks following the led suit. The highest trump or highest card of the led suit wins. Try to win exactly your bid — not more, not less.
4. Scoring: Win your exact bid to score 10 + your bid amount. Miss your bid (over or under) and score zero. The player with the highest total score wins.
